  • What is the current state? What are the gaps? HPE currently covers HSS informally, without a clear goal in mind—What is needed to truly make this the third pillar? How do we, as educators, anticipate the bottlenecks? What are some strategies for success?
  • Who should teach HSS and how do we build capacity in this area? (HSS is not a large discipline with existing faculty so how do we either mold or create faculty for this area?)
  • What are curricular options along the arc of HPE—preclinical, clinical and in-service (CPD)—what are ways (educational activities) to reach these different learners?
  • What are curricular goals? Do we have a sense of what proficiency in HSS should look like at the preclinical, clinical, and professional levels?
  • What type of institutional support (leadership/institutional buy-in) is needed to actualize this?
