Table of Strategic Actions from Group One

ACTION 1:

  • Actor: Public health departments
  • Action: Set up immediate active surveillance efforts for children, congregate settings, elder care facilities.

  • Actor: Health care systems and local public health departments, in partnership with community-based organizations
  • Action: Mobilize community-based workforce (community health workers, navigators) to disseminate necessary health information directly to community members.

  • Actor: Research community funding effort for misinformation response
  • Action: Establish an organized understanding about the types of misconceptions that are likely to be artificially promoted. Use pattern recognition for tropes and methods of miscommunication to anticipate what could come next. Extract and operationalize key information about history and intervention approaches.

  • Action: Enact surge protocols. Identify additional health care staff. Pediatric divisions will need to surge staff and identify additional inpatient/outpatient sites (increasing beds).

  • Action: Adapt education plans throughout and monitor participation to ensure those who need assistance are reached. Ensure people have access to the equipment needed to learn.

  • Action: Build a plan to distribute food/nutritional assistance to children who were originally receiving food through school.
