Appendix C Outreach Activities
During its tenure, the Gulf Research Program Advisory Group participated in numerous interactions to inform program planning. In addition to outreach meetings organized by the Advisory Group, Program representatives also attended numerous conferences, workshops, and meetings to engage with stakeholders. These outreach activities included conversations with state environmental agency representatives, academic researchers, industry researchers and safety experts, community organizations, federal researchers in the Gulf region, and many others. The NAS, the Gulf Research Program’s Advisory Board members, and the staff deeply appreciate the contributions from the many people we met over the past year.
In 2014, these initial engagement opportunities are being followed by three in-depth workshops to explore issues in more depth, Advisory Board meetings, and other community interactions. Over time, the Program will continue to use a variety of mechanisms to engage with stakeholders, learn about relevant activities, and build opportunities for partnerships.
