About

With support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, this one-day workshop is the second convening in a series that explores opportunities for Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) to have greater participation, competitiveness, and leadership in community-engaged research efforts related to extreme weather impacts on human health and resilience.

Throughout the day, participants will hear from community leaders and academic researchers who have engaged in and sustained partnerships to conduct community-engaged research from within, across, and outside of MSIs and or HBCUs. Between panels, participants will have opportunities to participate in small group discussions followed by a networking reception.

Registration to attend in-person will be open until February 10, 2025. Online registration will remain open until the workshop. This workshop is open to the public and encourages community members, students, and faculty from MSIs and HBCUs in the Gulf Region to register. The workshop location will be hosted at Xavier University of Louisiana's Administration Auditorium (7325 Drexel Dr, New Orleans, LA 70125).

Participants will engage in discussions around the current status of available infrastructures to support MSI-led community-engaged research, as well as examine opportunities for MSIs to lead research related to climate, health, and resilience.
