Building Health and Resilience Research Capacity in the U.S. Gulf Coast: A Workshop Series

Recently completed

With support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Gulf Research Program will appoint an ad-hoc committee to design and implement a series of evidence-based workshops in collaboration with the Board of Higher Education and Workforce and the Board on Gulf Education and Engagement that will discuss opportunities for Minority Serving Institutions to increase participation and competitiveness in community-engaged climate and health research.

Description

A committee will be appointed to design and implement two workshops that explore opportunities for Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) to have greater participation, competitiveness, and leadership in community-engaged research efforts. The workshops will address applied research opportunities that address the compounding effects of extreme weather events and environmental stressors on human health, inform and improve public health data systems, and enhance community resilience. The workshops may also explore topical and institutional barriers encountered by MSIs in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico Region.

This workshop series will produce up to two Proceedings in accordance with NASEM guidelines.
