The Interagency Coordinating Committee on Oil Pollution Research (ICCOPR) Research and Technology Plan will help to define priorities in the field of oil pollution research and guide future research efforts by federal agencies, in cooperation and coordination with industry, universities, research institutions, state governments, and other nations. An ad-hoc committee of the National Academies will review the Research and Technology Plan and advise ICCOPR.

An ad hoc committee will be appointed by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (the National Academies) to provide advice and guidance to the Interagency Coordinating Committee on Oil Pollution Research (ICCOPR) on ICCOPR’s 2022 – 2027 Research and Technology Plan. Specifically, the committee will:
- Provide advice and guidance on approach and structure of the 2022 – 2027 ICCOPR Research and Technology Plan;
- Assess the adequacy of the completed 2022 – 2027 Research and Technology plan;
- Provide organizational guidance regarding the implementation of the research plan, including advice on research prioritization, identification of topics best addressed through a research partnership among the Federal agencies represented on the Interagency Committee, and recommendations for future ICCOPR Research and Technology Plan development.
