This session offers a detailed overview of eligibility requirements and award benefits for the NRC Research Associateship Programs (NRC RAP) and Air Force Science & Technology Fellowship Program (AF STFP). We’ll cover who is eligible to apply, including citizenship and degree requirements, and the types of research supported. We’ll also take a closer look at the benefits and award details to help you prepare a strong, informed application. Bring your questions—there will be time for Q&A at the end!

Intro to the Fellowship & Application Process Webinar

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine maintain a database of more than a thousand active research opportunities and administer postdoctoral and senior research awards at participating federal laboratories and affiliated institutions at locations throughout the U.S. and abroad.

This introductory webinar offers a high-level overview of the NRC Research Associateship Programs (RAP) and Air Force Science & Technology Fellowship Program (AF STFP) and is designed to help prospective applicants understand the application process. We’ll cover the types of awards, eligibility, how to apply, how to engage Advisers and host labs, and key resources available to support you. This session serves as a kickoff to our full webinar series, with future sessions diving deeper into specific topics such as proposal writing, navigating InfoRAP, and understanding the review process. Bring your questions—there will be time for Q&A at the end!

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine’s Office of Fellowships will host a webinar on best practices for crafting a compelling and competitive research proposal for the NRC Research Associateship Programs and the Air Force Science & Technology Fellowship Program. The session will also cover how applications are reviewed, the criteria used by peer review panels, and strategies to strengthen future submissions. Join the Office of Fellowships staff and expert panelists as they share insights, tips, and real-world examples to help applicants prepare a strong application and navigate the review process with confidence.
