The final USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service's Contingency Planning Rule went into effect January 3, 2022. This workshop aims to analyze the successes, challenges, and lessons learned from its implementation. Its goals are to clarify rule-related terminology, compare implementation across various research institutions, assess training program effectiveness, discuss active learning in preparedness training, explore contingency planning research, review the roles of relevant entities, share implementation experiences, and identify needs for additional guidance documents to enhance the Contingency Rule application. The workshop will examine the rule's impact and the evolving strategies in safeguarding animal and plant health and well-being.
