The Air Force Studies Board at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine will establish a Roundtable to assist the Department of the Air Force’s Research Institute for Tactical Autonomy UARC. The roundtable will meet four times annually to (1) identify actions and approaches to accelerate tactical autonomy research by the RITA UARC for the Department of the Air Force; (2) consider innovative techniques, technologies, models, and tools including technological capabilities under development by other Department of Defense components and potential commercial technologies that address critical challenges to meet tactical autonomy mission outcomes; and (3) facilitate the RITA UARC’s partnerships with academia, government, and industry to solve real-world tactical autonomy challenges and problems that are critical to national security.
The roundtable will be comprised of senior representatives from government, industry, and academia with expertise in autonomous systems and supporting technologies.
Topics for discussion will be determined jointly by the roundtable Chair, project sponsor, and AFSB program staff with input from the members. The roundtable will be designed to facilitate timely and open dialogue among participants to promote more effective partnerships between the roundtable members and the Department of the Air Force’s RITA UARC.
